Water in the works for this year’s Garden Safari

This year’s Kerikeri New World Rotary Garden Safari will feature 17 gardens, ranging from small urban gardens to spacious coastal estates and concentrated in a relatively small area within a 15 minute drive of the town centre. The annual Rotary fund-raiser will take place on the weekend of Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November and tickets will be available from Monday (5 October).

Water features prominently as a theme in this year's Garden Safari, with several pond, lake or inlet views. There is also a fountain and an indoor water garden.

Refreshments will be available for purchase at two cafes, one operated by Far North Hospice at Oakridge Villas (garden 5) and the other by the Northland Tuis Leisure Marching Team (garden 14). While Hospice is a regular beneficiary of the Garden Safari this is the first time the Northland Tuis have been involved.

As ever, Kerikeri Rotarians will be on duty in the gardens to help things run smoothly.

Tickets are $25 each and available from the event’s website (gardensafari.co.nz) or from Kerikeri New World, Shoestyles (Kerikeri and Paihia), Kwan’s Garden Creations and Unichem Kerikeri Pharmacy.

The Garden Safari is the Rotary Club of Kerikeri’s largest fund-raising event. The group uses the money raised to support local and international community and youth development projects.
